Colombia Decaf Huila coffee comes from the Huila region of Colombia, which is known for producing high-quality specialty coffees. This decaffeinated version is processed using the EA Sugarcane (Ethyl Acetate) method, which gently removes caffeine while preserving the coffee’s natural sweetness and flavor profile. The result is a clean, balanced cup with a full body and minimal loss of aroma.
Taste and use
In the cup, this coffee offers gentle notes of cocoa, caramel, and light dried fruit. Thanks to the careful decaffeination process, it retains pleasant sweetness, low bitterness, and a smooth body, making it an ideal choice for all-day coffee drinking without caffeine.
About the region, farm, and processing
The coffee is produced by smallholder farmers in the Huila region, where ideal altitude and climate support the development of high-quality coffee cherries. After harvest, it undergoes a classic washed process in which the pulp is removed and the beans are fermented and dried to create a clean and stable base for further processing.
It then undergoes the EA Sugarcane (Ethyl Acetate) process, a natural decaffeination method. Green coffee beans are first steamed to open their structure. Caffeine is then extracted using an ethyl acetate solution, often derived from sugarcane. This process selectively binds to caffeine and gradually removes it, while most flavor compounds remain intact. After decaffeination, the beans are dried again and stabilized before roasting.
The EA Sugarcane method is valued for its ability to preserve the coffee’s natural flavor profile while delivering a nearly fully decaffeinated product. As a result, this coffee retains the sweetness, smoothness, and complexity typical of the Huila region, but without the stimulating effects of caffeine.
