Origin

The coffee comes from the Gedeb area within the famous Yirgacheffe coffee region in Ethiopia — specifically from the village of Halo Barite, home to the Halo Washing Station. This station serves as a collection and processing hub for dozens to hundreds of smallholder farmers in the area, who typically cultivate coffee on small plots (0.5–2 hectares), often under the shade of native trees. Halo Washing Station is located in a high-altitude landscape — the farms and the station sit at around 2000–2100 meters above sea level, providing ideal conditions for slow coffee growth and the development of complex flavors. Thanks to the proximity of the farms to the station, coffee cherries are delivered immediately after harvest — a crucial factor for maintaining quality. Processing at Halo is meticulous: after delivery, the cherries are floated and sorted, then dried on raised beds while being regularly turned to ensure even drying.
